Plant-led garden revamps
Working with what's already in your garden to create distinctive areas, or bring life to tricky areas that need some love. Plant selection, garden care and maintenance advice.
Slow Gardening
Gardens feel more natural when they are allowed to evolve over time. Over a couple of seasons (or more) planting up different areas of your garden allows you time to enjoy the changes as they settle in around you.
Planting Plans and Elevations
For professionals; I can do plant research, complete planting plans, create elevations and help with workflow. From years in the design industry I'm used to juggling jobs that were wanted yesterday whilst retaining high quality.
Shade Planting
I really enjoy making full use of plant form and texture. Areas of shade are often the most difficult parts of a garden, but can also provide plenty of opportunities to create densely textured and beautiful spaces that are a real joy.

Skills and Expertise
Horticultural Knowledge
Strong horticultural knowledge backed up by practical experience and ongoing learning. Beth Chatto's motto 'Right plant right place' informs my approach and I am rigorous in designing schemes that work together aesthetically as well as horticulturally.
Planting Combinations
I really enjoy making full use of plant form and texture. Areas of shade are often the most difficult parts of a garden, but can also provide plenty of opportunities to create densely textured and beautiful spaces that are a real joy.
Working Alongside Garden Professionals
From my 30+ years of experience as a freelance artist and designer I have found that the skills of managing deadlines, simultaneous commissions and maintaining quality are as useful in horticulture and garden design as they were to me in the arts.
